This document is a concise and comprehensive compilation of Statistical Classifications for data production and management in Tanzania Mainland, and it covers various sectors of the economy. It has been prepared within the implementation process of the Tanzanian Statistical Master Plan (TSMP) that aims at establishing a fully coordinated and harmonized National Statistical System (NSS) in Tanzania.
The process of preparing this compendium involved several stakeholders from MDAS in the National Statistical System. This endeavour fulfills one of the main substantive components of the TSMP of developing statistical infrastructure. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has been coordinating the preparatory process of the compendium through the Department of Statistical Methods, Standards and Coordination (SMSC) since 2011. It is the first time the NSS in Tanzania Mainland is compiling such a document.
