Large Scale Farms Survey 2012/13 Report
The National Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Co-operatives; Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development and the Prime Minister’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PMORALG) conducted a large scale farms survey. The survey involved the total enumeration of large scale farming activities in the country during the 2012/13 Agriculture Year.
Historically, the 2012/13 survey was the fifth after the surveys carried out in 1987/88, 1994/95, 2002/03 and 2007/08. The survey collected detailed data on both crop and livestock sub-sectors including land access, use of credits, crop and animal extension services, marketing and services provided to out-growers. It also collected comprehensive information on livestock products, pests and disease control, access to livestock infrastructure, staff and labour use. This report presents information disaggregated up to the regional level and it focuses on crops and livestock kept on large scale farms.
