The report presents the major findings of the 2007-08 Tanzania HIV/AIDS and Malaria Indicator Survey (THMIS). The Tanzania Commission for AIDS (TACAIDS), Zanzibar AIDS Commission (ZAC), and Ministry of Health and Social Welfare authorized the National Bureau of Statistics(NBS) to conduct the THMIS. The THMIS is the second household survey to be conducted in Tanzania. The survey covers both the Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar.

The primary objectives of the 2007-08 THMIS were to provide up-to-date information on the prevalence of HIV infection among Tanzanian adults and the prevalence of malaria infection and anaemia among young children.
