Tax Statistics Report 2017/18 presents important and comprehensive information on Tanzania revenue accrued through taxation. In this report, revenues from all major tax items are elaborated with their trends in growth and shares. This is the sixth edition of a series of these reports published by the National Bureau of Statistics

Data used to compile this report were obtained from Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), the Ministry of Finance and Planning (MoFP), the Presidents’ Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG) and the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Some of the data used are provisional and may be updated. Beside 201718 fiscal year, the report gives information of earlier years since 2006/07. The overall Government finance report is also provided with details in appendix.

In brief, tax revenue has grown by an average annual growth of 17.6 percent from 2007/08 to 2017/18 and the long-term average of tax-to-Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ratio from 2006/07 to 2017/18 was 12.2 percent. Throughout this report, all figures related to Gross Domestic Products have been revised based on the new GDP after the rebasing of national accounts figures.
