About 2,500 delegates from over 130 countries are meeting in Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur from 18 through 23 August, 2019 to attend the 62nd World Statistics Conference organised by International Statistics Institute (ISI).

The institute’s biennial flagship event will witness the inauguration of the new ISI council which NBS Tanzania Statistician General Dr. Albina Chuwa is among the eight members who will serve the council from 2019 to 2023. The elections of the council members which took place from 4th September to 30th October, 2018, besides Dr. Chuwa, others elected were Victor  Bustos (Mexico), Andreas Georgious (Greece/USA), Dominique Haughton (USA), Kerrie Mengersen (Australia), Fionn Murtagh (UK), Aurel Schubert (Austria) and Elena Zarova (Russian Federation).

Dr. Chuwa and her team will join other council members from Belgium, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Palestine, Switzerland and United Kingdom who continue with their term in office in the remaining two years from four year tenure.

During the five-day congress, delegates will participate in various activities including discussion on various statistics areas from about 1,300 paper presentations.
