SG Dr. Msengwa Opens Workshop on Writing Women, Men Facts, Figures Report

The Government Statistician General, Dr. Amina Msengwa, has officially opened a workshop on Writing Women and Men Facts and Figures Report for the Year 2025. The workshop is being held at the Mount Uluguru Hotel Conference Hall in Morogoro Region on 6th January 2026.

Dr. Msengwa emphasized to participants that the report is very important, as it is used to show the status of men and women based on the International Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She explained that the information contained in the report is drawn from various surveys conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics over different periods, data from the 2022 Population and Housing Census, as well as statistics from administrative records.

Participants in the six-day workshop (from 5th to 10th January 2026) include representatives from the National Bureau of Statistics, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government, and a representative from the University of Dar es Salaam.

Furthermore, Dr. Msengwa stressed the importance of institutional collaboration in the production of gender statistics, noting that such statistics are a vital tool for identifying gender disparities, measuring gender equality, and supporting the Government, policymakers, and development partners in making informed decisions that take into account all segments of society.

The workshop, which is coordinated by the Social and Demographic Statistics Department of the National Bureau of Statistics, is part of the Bureau’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the national statistical system, ensure transparency, reliability, and the use of statistics in achieving national and international development goals, including the Gender Equality Agenda.
